Extending Yoga beyond the physical.

For the first in-person offering of Sunday Self Soothe - a quarterly release, providing you with one guided Yoga practice or teaching interwoven with a nourishing flow on the first Sunday of the month - we shall explore, together, Pratyahara.

Pratyahara is the fifth limb within the eight limbed path of Yoga*.

Often reffered to as the hinge point within the practice of Yoga, Pratyahara is where we shift our awareness from the practices centred around the external towards the practices centred around the internal.

Through a nourishing flow and the process of journalling I will guide you through the practices centred around the external. The external being the breathwork (Pranayama), the physical postures we perform upon the mat (Asana), the qualities we choose to cultivate within ourselves (Niyama) and the habits we choose to observe in our relations with others (Yama).

Reaching Pratyahara, I will lead you into the practices centred around the internal arriving together in meditation. The internal being the state of single-pointed concentration (Dharana) that eases into effortless concentration, into meditation (Dhyana).

-

Prior to, and following on from, the guided Yoga there shall be time for community and connection over a mug of a heating Ayurvedic tea blend to open and a cooling Ayurvedic tea blend to close (intentionally blended by ourselves).

-

On arriving you shall receive a locally foraged and hand crafted physical offering from ourselves to you which can be incorporated into your own self practice of Pratyahara should you wish.

-

What You Shall Receive:

  • A locally foraged and hand crafted physical offering.
  • Both a heating and a cooling Ayurvedic tea blend.
  • A guided Yoga practice interwoven with a nourishing flow and the process of journalling.
  • Both mats and props are provided.

-

What To Bring With You:

  • A flask containing enough hot water for two mugfulls.
  • A beloved mug and journal (with something for writing with).
  • Clothes that both allow for movement and are appropriate for the weather on the day.

-

Location: The location is accessible via public transport (journey time under 30 minutes) from the centre of Edinburgh and shall be shared with you upon the confirmation of your booking.

-

We look forward to warmly welcoming you.
